This is the only videogame I’m buying for myself before Christmas. I’m about three gym badges and a meetup with Team Magma vs Aqua into the game.
I did play and complete the original Sapphire when it was originally released. I played it all the way through during a very wet holiday to the wilds of North Cornwall in 2007. It was one of the few things that kept me sane during two very long weeks.
During this playthrough of Alpha Sapphire, I’m finding the cutscenes more dramatic than what they did in last year’s X/Y. Maybe I just didn’t fully notice them in X last year, but things do seem far more cinematic, but also that your character is really involved in what’s going on, so the game feels way more immersive.
And it’s great having secret bases and being able to visit the bases of people you’ve met online and through StreetPass. Just a shame all the people seem to be using rare Pokémon with Mega Evolutions. The one base battle I did have, I did win, but only by 2 health points.
I’m hoping to write a review for The Hex Dimension next week. Time to get back to Mt. Chimney.
